My experience with the fuel hoses has been such that I replace them every 5 years - period!! All of them!! And I inspect them thoroughly once a month, plus look at them closely anytime the hatch is open.

The way the Vanagon fuel system is cobbled together with those hoses, keeping a close eye out for chafing is essential. Only once have I had a leak from a cracked hose - all the others have been from holes chafed through the fuel lines or a clamp becoming loose.

BTWE - Ken Wilford has been good about posting his HowTo videos on Youtube.
