Keep it in the garage. The problem with Sharpie (or any other brand) is that the marks will fade under daylight. Felt-tip (capillary) markers use ink. Ink is a dye. Dyes are not UV (ultra-violet (light)) resistant. Therefore daylight will fade the marks. Better to use a paint marker. A paint marker uses pigments, which are generally UV resistant (fluorescent pigments are not UV resistant, however).
