Just a couple of weeks ago I ordered the charger you pointed to, tried it and immediately returned it. The batteries (AA and AAA and D) got so hot I couldn't hold on to them. Larry Chase had the same experience with that one. I then ordered this one: < http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006OSQALU/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 > on Larry's suggestion and it seems perfect, have charged all sizes in it without problem. And it let me know that one D cell I had was bad. As for 12v charging the one I have now does not come with a 12v adapter BUT it actually uses 12v DC out of the wall wart so I will cut the cord and put a connector on the plug that mates with a 12v plug and cord and be able to charge on either 110v AC or 12v DC. BTW, the AA/AAA smart charger that sells for about $59 < http://www.amazon.com/Crosse-Technology-Battery-Charger-BC1000/dp/B004J6DLD4/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1371653562&sr=1-2> is probably the best on the market and as I use up my current supply of AA and AAA alkaline batteries and switch to all rechargeable I'll probably go to one of those.
