There are rental companies that market themselves as "car share" cooperatives. Those are of larger scale than what your neighbor seems to be proposing. My brother and a coworker used to, way back in the fifties, own a commuter car together. It was in both of their names, and they split all costs. However, they only drove it for commuting together. I don't know how they handled liability insurance. I doubt they carried full coverage, the car was an old Henry-J. Anyone remember those? mcneely
