what you really want is the 5 speed diesel vanagon dipstick system .. as that 'overhead' dipstick tube is much better than the 82 type where the dipstick is in the plastic oil filler cap.

( those just wear out there ) . For an oil filler tube.. one could use the 82 4 speed type, a 5 speed type that's built better and can be heated and bent a little, or ..no oil filler tube on the oil pan. Instead ...this is really neat ..... make the oil filer cap on the valve cover, on top of an extension piece, by welding. ...like one that sticks up a couple of inches and then the oil cap is level, making the oil filling at the valve cover very easy.

the stock 82 DV oil filler tube and dipstick system is the weakest version of diesel vanagon oil filler and dipstick set up. Only used that one year, which tells you something.
