RE: Multimeters One of your questions has not been addressed, analog of digital? Digital by all means for this purpose. Also for technical reasons not really important for automotive work but because of price, features and more rugged. Over the years I've ended up with three DMMs, two Craftsman and one Fluke. All very good. The Fluke stays on the work bench, one Craftsman near my desk (a model that can be used to detect 110v AC at an outlet by proximity) and the other Craftsman in the Westy. That one is also a clamp meter that will read DC current, I use it to check the solar charging system. All were purchased on eBay, used. And from 10 to 50% of the price of a new one. Oh yeah, I also have at least one of the little $10 meters stuffed into a space in the van that would be backup if needed. And actually, for 90% of what I would ever need to do in the van would work.
