In my case, I wasn't making much progress either (at least not as fast I
thought it should be).  I could see the air bubble in the line (translucent
white plastic) going into the floor after the master and the bubble would
just move back and forth.  I figured it was "vapor locked".  Not wanting to
break open any more fittings (since I was only replacing the rear line at
the slave), I just stepped down on the clutch pedal and waited 5 or 10
minutes until all the bubbles stopped bubbling up from the feed hose into
the reservoir.  This was enough to fill the master and feed line to the
point where I got a solid fluid push out of the master.  The rest is
history.

Side Question: Are Syncros the only model that used the white translucent
plastic lines after the master to feed the hard line and then another white
translucent plastic line at the rear to feed the slave?

Anyone have any tips for bleeding clutches that refuse to be bled? I just
replace all the hydraulics on my '86, and can't get the clutch to bleed.
I'm using a pressure bleeder and 15-20 psig, but no cigar.
Pumping, no pumping, doesn't seem to make a difference.
