Hi Frank, I know the vendors on this list have done the research and wasn't trying to get any of them to divulge their secrets, but thought the list of fasteners might have been compiled by someone who did it themselves. No luck so far.  :-) So Frank, are the pop-top bolts you offer the mythical 'oversized heads' stainless steel bolts? I've sent you a request for a quote via PM. I'm trying to economize and DIY this 86 Westy Weekender project (Bostig engine conversion) as much as possible since the costs keep mounting.  "While I'm in here and waiting for the Bostig kit parts to ship, I might as well replace _________ <fill in the blank>. Let's see, entire cooling system, fuel system, air intake, LED lighting, pop-top canvas, headlights and grill etc. Haven't even touched the suspension, brakes or the rusty spots on the body yet! At least I know my tires/wheels are good (16" steelies and Haka C's from the VC that I kept when I sold my prior Westy).  I'm sure you all know what I mean.  I think I've ordered something from just about every vendor out there this round.  Except for Van-Again, sorry Ken! I did buy a bunch of parts for my 82 Diesel Westy from you.  :-) What certifies me as 'a crazy vanagon owner' is that I've never even driven this van (had a blown engine when I bought it), nor ever driven a Bostig equipped van w/a manual tranny. :-) Cheers, Marco   >________________________________ >Date:    Thu, 27 Jun 2013 05:15:48 -0400 >From:    Frank Condelli <RAlanen@AOL.COM> >Subject: Re: Replacing various rusted screws/fasteners > >        Marco, I have ALL the fasteners for the Vanagon and Vanagon = >Westfalia in Stainless Steel.  Kits for different areas and not all that = >expensive.  It took a long time tracking down all this hardware and I am = >not about to release the details of that information.  Buy my kits and = >that pays me for my time and effort and in return you get quality = >Stainless Steel fasteners that you need to replace your rusting ones, = >without having to track down each individual one.  You can see a listing = >of all the kits I have available on the home page of my = ><www.frsankcondelli.com> website. > > >On 2013-06-27, at 12:00 AM, Automatic digest processor = ><LISTSERV@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> wrote: > >> I would like to replace a variety of rusted fasteners in my 86 = >Weekender, s=3D >> tarting w/the lights/lenses.=3DA0=3D0A=3D0AMy van is some distance = >away (requirin=3D >> g a ferry ride) awaiting the completion of the Bostig conversion, or I = >woul=3D >> d just take a few screws with me to the local hardware store to match = >up.=3D >> =3D0A=3D0AIs there a listing somewhere internet accessible of the = >type/dimensio=3D >> n of the various fasteners?
