I don't see why really .. and do you want to remove a trailing arm with the beefy/heavy bearing housing ( four 22 mm hex head bolts ) and the drum and backing plate, stub axle and flange all still all attached ?

you can, but the bare arm is a nicely manageable piece. It' not hard to take that stuff apart.

Tell you what .. with the alxe nut and the whole assembly on the van now , it's easy to undo the big axle nut.

later ..unless you have a hyper strong impact gun .. like 3/4 inch drive and 600 + ft lbs of torque ... it could be quite hard holding that assembly well enough to undo the big nut with a cheater bar.
