The physical wiring is different in that it needs to carry more current. The basic wiring diagram for the new setup would be like what is shown on Bentley 97.200 of the later Bentley. One could build that wiring easily enough. The big fan motor needs a dedicated battery power feed wire, to feed the 50 amp fuse.

The best thing would probably be to get the complete 450watt fan harness from an 86+ with A/C. Then you would need to run a new power feed wire from the battery to the dash area to power the new harness. There will be a few connections to figure out, a couple wires not needed and some mods to the new harness. The hew harness would not need to connect to the existing dash wiring at all. You won't need to remove or modify your original fan wiring, just leave it aside.
