Yes, fuse twisting works wonders in the early fuse boxes. I know the di-electric grease thread has run its course, but what about coating the fuse tips? Any opinions? How about silicone paste? I have a whole jar of the 3M stuff. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Scott Ohana Sent: Sunday, June 30, 2013 4:25 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Re: replacement fuse cover for 85 needed I don't recommend having that cover in place actually. I have seen them with water in them even .. not good for the fuses. I think the fuses are happier exposed to the interior of the van. What gets iffy on them is contact at the ends.. which I treat with electrical contact cleaner or wd-40. it's also good to go down the row of fuses twisting each one slightly once in a great while..that helps maintain contact at the ends, where contact can easily be lost. |
