Wash the tank with a solution of chlorine bleach (1cup bleach in 1 gallon of water), then rinse thoroughly with clean water until no chlorine smell remains. Then fill the tank with clean water treated with 1 teaspoon of bleach per gallon of water. Bleach should be 5.25% sodium hypochlorite straight bleach, no perfumes or other additives. If you are using city water that is safe to drink at home, it is not necessary to add bleach if the tank has been cleaned and treated with bleach. If the tank is clean and sanitized, and the water is sanitized, there is no reason not to drink it. I drink water from my tank all the time. mcneely ---- Jeff Palmer <jpalmer@MYMTS.NET> wrote: > Taking the kids camping this weekend! I'd like to take along City water and the tank in my 85 appears clean but I'm sure it isn't. What's the best way to clean it without disassembly? Even after it's rinsed out, I assume it's only good for washing and not drinking? Advice appreciated! > > Thanks everyone > Jeff > 85 Westfalia GL, Winnipeg -- David McNeely |
