Seems like it really shouldn't matter much which approach you use ~ as there is a ShutOffValve & Restricter in the OutFlowLine of the rear heater I would simply connect the 2 hoses & close the valve either fully or partially as desired & DrivrOn 'til I could get a NewCore,
