I'm no expert on provincial regulations, but in practice I've encountered this: Competence and ability to fill the tank varies greatly, as probably everywhere -- you might get an experienced guy, or the new summer hire who has never filled a vehicle tank. I t helps to study how your regular place does it at home so you can tell if they appear to do something stupid. (I and other bystanders were once sprayed with ice cold propane when suddenly the filler nozzle came off and for some reason the filler nozzle valve didn't auto-shut. Instead the liquid propane from 25ft of 3" hose discharged. ) Most Canadian propane filling  places will not have the adaptor to use the inside thread in the Westy fill port. To use the larger propane nozzle that goes on the outside threads it helps to loosen the bolts on the protection plate just under the valves and tilt that down a bit. Before embarking onto ferries someone will come by and ask you to shut the propane, then place a tape seal on the valve. Martin (and '82 Westy that made some cross country trips from NS to BC)
