Many people including myself are reluctant to click a link without being able to examine it closely first, because of the risk of visiting a hostile site. A note for tinyurl users: you can go to the tinyurl.com website and set an option (sets a cookie in your browser) so that clicking a tinyurl will take you first to a page showing the expanded URL before you actually go there.
