What's the brand of regulator?  Recently a guy posted on a Mercedes
forum that his less than year old Uro brand (made in China) regulator
snapped off a couple spot welds in a suspiciously similar manner.  He
drilled and added screws to reinstall the broken piece, but you might
try rivets on yours.  The aftermarket supply chain is getting weaker
by the day.  Caveat to the emptor
