That's a great idea. I usually put the vice grips on the flare nut b/c as others have mentioned, line wrenches don't work, they just strip.

Will have to try this technique next time.

A trick I often use with brake line nut wrenches is to place the proper wrench on the nut, then clamp the wrench with a vice-grip type of locking pliers. This helps keep the line nut wrench from spreading under extreme force. Really helps when working on 35 y.o. Fiats. And Vanagons.
