Many years ago in a different life and on a different planet I experienced this in my MGB. In total exasperation, I finally pulled the tank, and found that someone had siphoned off gas using rubber surgical tubing and just stuffed it into the tank when they were done. It mostly dissolved, but there were clumps of gel that would clog the pick-up, especially after long drives. You may well have crud in your gas tank from who knows where, but try everything else before you get a new tank. Adding alcohols, especially ethanol if you can get 100% denatured, will suspend any water, but still leave the crud behind. Stuart

But the timing and the cure of the problem makes me think bad gas. One would think that if it was a wiring issue it would occur more frequently, and in winter too. Winter here means rain, lots of rain. Temp 2 sensor in a bit of an exposed to road splash area. But I will check the connection and wires. thanks alistair
