Dear stated value
Had that on my westie - once wrecked i found out that stated value had no
carriage in the discussion - took threat of lawyer to even get adjuster to
leap from what they offered to what i paid - more than 15K$ difference - i
could have pressed the matter with further lawyer talk but that would have
cost the difference so i did not bother - it was after all those
discussions that i discovered stated value is not worth anything but higher
premiums - what you require is a survey and valuation from a surveyor the
insurance co accepts and then you go on agreed value - which the insurance
co signs off on --
further to that - the insurance co lined up several people and each one had
a different story - then they claimed that each department was separate and
the adjuster never spoke to the claims management folks... i did one mail
with a cc to them all and noted at the salutation Dear Mr. Lawyer ...
the insurance company claims that each department does not speak to the
other - could you please ask them to re organize their structure so they
speak with one voice as you and i do -
the next contact with insurance co was one voice -
i also left a link on the email to encourage anyone at the insurance office
to watch Atom Egoyan's movie The Adjuster - as that put things into
perspective from my point of view -
a pal o mine took it all one step further - after a wreck he was directed
to the local adjusters office and presented with a cheque for about 5K$ -
he said i think my incident is worth more than that - the person began to
lay out the company line about how this was a fair and reasonable offer -
this was the error - you see my pal had gone to church with this claims
manager - asked claims manger several questions about soul and heaven and
how they thought they might right the sort of job they had with god - or
did that even matter - last word was that claims manager left job at
insurance co and moved on - indeed sold house and left town - i certainly
dont advocate that sort of tactic - lawyers speak well enough -
my pal then called his lawyer and the offer increased by 16 times the
original -
anyway it is not friday - yet - come friday i have much to say about
insurance stuff -- much indeed -
regards
