Temp Sensor II is the common term for the temp sensor that feeds engine coolant temp to the ecu. There is a temp senor in the AFM too, built in. And you can check its resistance ...though I seldom ever do and have not seen a bad one. How to is in the Bentley manual. swapping the AFM is a no brainer. Takes one screw driver. if it's an 86 or later ....you'd like to see an adapter harness between AFM and ecu wiring harness, about 6 inches long. Not all 2.1 wbxr vans have one...but many do. It's to address a glitch in the elctronics there....google Vanagon Syndrome .
