Neil,
I successfully rescued 2 (yes 2) Go Pro Hero 2 cameras that got flooded (salt water). I soaked them in a few changes of fresh water (oh, battery removed right away after dunking) then shook out as much water as I could and put them in a bag of raw rice. After a week both worked, the only damage was a very small part of the lcd screen being a little dim.
My Sonim XP3 Quest phone takes all the abuse I can give it. Pretty good for a camping phone.
