That's really nice!
Funny, I'm in the process of something similar... using my tripod(s)
and the small factory table. I had two wooden table tops cut from my
design, mainly because I'm converting the large one to a work table
holding my 24" monitor for my photo processing and art work.
We're bringing the smaller table for outside use only, sans the
factory mount, so I tried a t-nut first but feared it wouldn't hold.
I was right and may epoxy the t-nut into the table so the mount would
cover it if we ever sold the bus (highly unlikely). Worst case, I may
have to drill though the tabletop and properly nut and bolt it down.
Hope not, it seems blasphemous to drill into any of these 30-year-old
parts (our '84 bus was born on 8-11-83, thanks to VW checking our
VIN! — Happy 30th next month!).
What I wanted to do was use our new tables with the factory mount. My
design was to have a threaded, circular base plate welded onto a
piece of pipe that slides into the factory mount — and threads onto
the tripod screw — but we're out of town in leaving to live full-
time on the road. This would basically look like a steel cup on top
of a tripod that the factory mount would slide onto. Our tripods are
pro-grade so plenty stable and adjustable from ground-level to 6 feet
high if desired. he design I can et done in time would use a small
ballhead on the tripod so I could tilt the table for a variety of
uses like drawing, etc.

But no toaster.
I asked if they had anything, just anything, that would keep Felder
Industries flat footed.
One of them pulled some bits of aluminium out from under his bench.

"Perfect" I said, "Felder would never have thought of this!"
