Hi folks,

Just wanted to pass along my recent experience with replacing my burned out selector lights with Go Westy's blue LEDs. They are great, and you can chose from several colors. My radio screen is blue, so I went with that. Remember, they are on when the ignition is on. Not cheap, but neither are the ones from the dealer, and with all the downshifting on hills required I need the lights for night driving. http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=23493 <http://www.gowesty.com/ec_view_details.php?id=23493&category_id=&category_p arent_id> &category_id=&category_parent_id= I did need to rewire them in parallel as they mentioned, and managed to get the polarity backwards on both the first time.

On my '85 the cover that slides up and down with the shifter in the plate where the PRNDL letters are was missing, and way too much light shined from the opening. If yours is missing it's a pretty easy fix. Buy a black flexible plastic three ring binder (a nice thick one) and you can cut a strip from it. The only tricky part is the hole. Before you remove the housing, check to see if the shifter is on or off center, and take note. Then you can cut or drill a hole in the right place in the plastic. I used a 9/16" spade bit that had spurs on the edges very slowly after clamping down both sides of area I drilled. It takes a little enlarging with a blade to fit. Make it a little large with a gap so the light can come through and show you where the shifter is.
