They are white, and I didn't have to modify anything, just plug and play-other than there is a polarity now, so if one doesn't work just reverse it. I find the white light illuminates the gauges much better than the old bulbs did, they are much easier for me to see at night, no more squinting. The dimming feature still works fine. At $3.00 a bulb, so $9.00 for all 3, a very worthwhile upgrade IMHO. Just the LCD clock still has the old incandescent bulb, I heard the clocks don't play well with the LED bulbs.
