I have run a few wires through the existing grommets like Dennis mentions. Not knowing what I would need for future upgrades or additions took the time to run a couple extra wires from the rear to the dash area using a couple different gauges of wire. All wires are labeled and sealed on both ends. I use a heat shrink label maker to label all my wires. I try to use: Red for Bat 12V ( hot all the time) Green for IGN 12V (only hot when ignition on) Yellow for Ground (most of the time) Brown for Ground (occasionally or when rewiring existing factory circuits The reason for the yellow ground is I like to use marine duplex wire to keep things neat. They now sell what is called Duplex safety wire.

Here is a excerpt from iboats.com about the use of yellow colored wire for the ground:

Yellow wire is recommended as DC negative because black is the standard color for AC hot. There have been many cases of people working on their DC systmes who have inadvertently cut the live AC wire. Because of the wide spread use of inverters, power generators and shore power connections, even today's smallest boats pose a risk of inadvertently cutting into AC wires when working on DC systems.

Last I like to use a little sealant after running the wire through the grommets up front. I don't want any water getting in especially since the rubber isn't as supple as it once was.
