I've seen my fair share of dissected CIS pumps with the same commutator wear. Most of those pumps still worked but were noisy.

What I have is a totally irredeemably worn out pump that happens also to be seized. The depth of the wear gully in the commutator was about .035 inches. There was maybe a bare .005 inches to go before you simply ran out of copper. That is an ex-parrot I mean pump, and so is the one at Pelican Parts, and I bet so are a lot of the ones we're driving around on. Cheerful thought. Too bad I haven't a clue of this one's history, and no comparison with the one I took apart years ago where I did know the history. Yours, David |
