Subject: How often to change Fuel Injectors?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1

There was a recent smell of gas which prompted me to replace the engine compartment fuel lines.    Today, I am doing the engine compartment fuel line replacement.  From the looks of things, there were a few lines that had been changed by the Previous Owner(s) (PO).  The fuel injectors all appear to be original.  I was able to clean the fuel injectors with solvent, test them and they seem to be working well.  My question is how long do a set of fuel injectors normally last?  I appreciate there must be all sorts of variables, and it may come down to the perfomance of the individual fuel injector.  My vehicle has approximately 160 Km on it.  The bus has been running well, with no noticible issues.  What sort of signs or symptoms would suggest that the fuel injectors need replacement?   Your thoughts?   Stuart 86 Vanagon GL 2.1 automatic
