Subject: AC Switch is fixed
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

So my first Vanagon repair - at 72 not as limber as I should be but got it done. I replaced the AC switch on the dash. To gain access had to remove the instrument cluster. There were instructions on GoWesty for doing that. I noticed that due to broken plastic only two diagonal screws (of the four) are holding the cluster. The switch it self has five push on connectors that came off the old switch with great difficulty. I took them off one at a time and immediately connected them to the new switch so I would get them in the right position. Then there are two wires soldered to the pot that sets the temp. Had to hunt up my soldering iron and did that. With some difficulty I got everything put back together and viola it works. I now have all the speeds for the fan. I can see where the old switch was fried. Ready for nap.

P.S. What an interesting place to put a master cylinder and reservoir! :-)
