The first thing to consider is ...........

most trailers use the 'two ffilament' system. ( 'melican cars do too generally )

vanagons use 3 ..one for tail, one for brake, one for turnsignals.

on a two filament system ...there's only tail light. and brake/turn signal , two filaments total per side.

there are adapter gizmo's to interace the two different systems.
