It's a high-speed, small-diameter fan compared to the usual. That means it's less efficient, all else being equal. Have you heard the thing running at high speed? 450 watts is six tenths of a horsepower. Yes, I'd say it's a good bit more than the usual for a four-banger. The non-A/C one is 300/200 watts.

But that's not really my point. Every cooling fan system is engineered to fit its own circumstances, its own design of motor, fan blade, shrouding, engine compartment, philosophy of the designers. If you want to be your own engineer and swap components from one system to another, you have to actually do at least some of the work. It's not rocket science but there are measurements and calculations involved -- assuming you want the fan to keep turning at the design speeds, and things not to burn up in the wiring.
