This is the best YouTube video that I came across. It shows the basic process to clean and back flush the injectors. It appears he uses both 12 VDC from the vehicle battery or from a DC wall wart converter. I have been told that the electrical connector used for the Vanagon fuel injectors is also used on many North American cars, and is readily available at NAPA or other stores (not confirmed). Yes, I would use a momentary push button switch (NO). It seems to be worth the effort to make up a test wiring harness to do this job, rather than risking damaging the solenoid on the fuel injector.

I can see in Bentley, for my vehicle page 97.89 that all four fuel injectors fire at the same time. In speaking with Frank C., he said that the fuel injection system on the Vanagon is very Olde Skoole and is really not that efficient. This is one of the reasons it goes through so much fuel, as compared to more modern fuel injection systems which adjust fuel right down to each cylinder. The reason this came up, as I was curious as to why there was not a better way to identify the fuel injector harness. They both look the same on both sides of the engine. That is when he said it does not matter which fuel injector harness is connected to the fuel injectors, as they all fire at the same time.
