I'm totally fascinated by the fact that fuel is running past the coil and armature etc. But IIRC, and as has been mentioned here before, there's no oxygen involved so....

The pump chamber plate is magnetic. Huh. To attract unwanted metal bits much like an oil pan drain plug? Or is fuel moving too fast or that?
