it's incredibly easy ( one of the great thingsabout vanagons is how easy most parts of them are to work on ) ..to access the tail lights and wiring ...just whip out 4 screws.. pull the assembly, out, the wires are right in front of you.

Couldn't possibly be easier or more convenient.
