They definitely crack, happened to me on my previous '84. Any plastic subjected to constant heating and cooling cycles will get brittle, add pressure, and it can crack. RMW has one they like from Turkey for $27. I'm sure others have them too. As usual with aftermarket parts, quality on these will vary. Might check with the dealer for a good laugh.
