lol. firstquestion ...possibly. And what the exact failure is hardly matters at this point. 2nd question ......yes, very. 3rdQ ...very possibly. it's never good to keep driving a known-bad trans. There's danger it won't be a useful core even, a loss of400 bucks or so. is it an 82 air-cooled Vanagon ..? or an 82 Diesel Vanagon ? I would 'maybe' sell a stock 82 DV trans I have in an 82 DV , running currently. If it's a DK air-cooled .. you want to take good care of that trans ...those are getting harder to find and are desirable.Worth more than the van almost. Seriously. It's far easier to find a clapped out or dead air-cooled vanagon than it is to find a DK trans for one.
