I have two lamps mounted on the rear bumper - each controlled by it's own separate switch. One is a white light - for when I need extra lighting for back up or for some other purpose. When I need the light - I simply turn i on - and when done - turn it off. The second is a large red light - again on a separate switch. I turn it on when conditions are right to give drivers behind me a little more red so as less likely to get rear-ended - as in heavy rain at night or fog. The red light doesn't get used very often, but the white light gets used fairly regularly - but mostly at home getting out of the driveway.
