I, too, have had problems. The original faucet in our Westy started to leak at the base so I ordered a new one. It came with a leak at the pivot joint where the spigot attaches to the main tower.

They said they knew of the problem and sent a replacement, which I installed. It does not have a leak but the on-off knob is quite difficult to turn, and impossible to turn with soapy hands. I disassembled it and applied a file to any spots that seemed likely to result in easier turning, but no joy.

I contacted them about this, they suggested that it would likely improve with use, and sent a third faucet.

At this point the water supply hose has been cut and shortened twice because I was unable to pull the hose off the faucet's barbed fitting, so I'm not real interested in installing the replacement as it would entail installing a new hose.

Besides, the replacement feels like it is no easier to turn.

So I re-hooked up my GW faucet foot switch, which I like because it permits quick hands-free control of water which results in less wasted water -- important to us when we spend four, five nights dry-camping in hot weather.

The foot "pedal" is actually a bulb that applies pressure through a small hose to a little electrical on-off switch you connect at the wiring for the switch faucet.

The only reason I removed the foot switch when I put in the new faucet is due to it being prone to jamming in the "on" position if it is pulsed on and off with sufficient force to empty the bulb - with too much pressure air leaks out at the push-on fitting at the switch end of the hose.

This results in a hasty pulling out of the silverware drawer to access the wiring and yank one of the quick-disconnects. Then you wait for the bulb to re inflate.

But with the right "touch" the foot switch works well for me. I occasional use the hard-to-turn knob, but never with soapy hands.

Sent from my 1963 aqua blue 702B Western Electric Princess phone.
