Probably ss fasteners if only just to bug David B. who will point out the electrolysis problem between stainless and aluminum :)

Won't be a problem at all, large amount of aluminum, small amount of stainless. If on the other hand I had a stainless bumper and for some reason used aluminum bolts.... then the bolts would be gone in a while.

As to worrying about aluminum bolted onto the vanagon frame, well I think you are too late in that worry. Happens all over the van, including your alloy wheels :)

cheers

Why aluminum? because I like the stuff, nicer to work with than steel, cleaner too. And I tend to contradict Colin Chapman's dictum of "simplify and add lightness" so starting with a lighter material will help keep the overall weight down :) >> >> >> alistair > > > > -- > Neil n > > Blog: tubaneil.blogspot.ca > > '88 Westy http://tinyurl.com/c8rlw6p > > '81 VanaJetta 2.0 "Jaco" http://tubaneil.googlepages.com/ > > Vanagon VAG Gas inline-VR Engine Swap Group: > > http://tinyurl.com/d7gd5ej
