Never done the job so I got "lost" at the point quoted below.... ;) That said, should I need to do this job hopefully I won't be reading this roadside!

Would leaving the coolant pump belt on help when cracking the coolant pump pulley bolts loose? Or is there a tool that holds the pulley from turning? Something like this? image:
