Eric,

You can reach into the plastic housing with longnose pliers and gently pull out the connectors from the spade terminals in the housing. It doesn't matter how you wire it up.

If you are luck and nobody has cut too much of the hose off before you, you can undo the screws and lift the faucet out the top and work on it above the sink rather than under. In any event, the hose will come off easier if you heat it with a hair dryer before removal. Same with putting it back on.

If it won't come off without a lot of persuasion, break off the nipple. You're going to throw the faucet away anyway, right? Then you can get the broken end out of the hose.

If worse comes to worse, you can always cut the hose off, which if previously done a few times leads to the condition mentioned previously where you can't pull it above the sink enough to work on it.
