Okay, I did the tape mod to the lower and middle tracks on my '84's slider and it is quieter. Not night and day quieter, but noticeably quieter. The amount of force to get the door rolling and the loudness of the closing crash are unchanged, but this mod isn't about that. Recommended if you want a project simple enough that even I can do it! Mrs Elliott is pleased.
