This morning I needed to get a weed-eater out of my Westy and do some maintenance on it, having used it and transported back in the camper area. I discovered that my sliding door was stuck shut. Some fiddling around with it I noticed that the rear latch was only popping out about 1/8". So, climbing inside I proceeded to remove the cover and insulation, etc. While dismantling everything I noticed how all this works but the cable adjustment device seemed like it works backward. It also seemed like there should have been a similar device at the rear of this cable and sheath or some spacer to fit into that depression in the rear latch assembly. My fix was to use three washers, split and re-flattened onto the end of the sheath. That gave me enough tension for the latch mechanism to work great. Two and a half hours after starting it was all back together and working great. Anyone know if there is supposed to be a spacer there? I later looked at ETKA but its an assembly and not well represented. The maintenance on the weed-eater took 15 minutes.
