Reading my own post again I notice how poorly written it is. The spacers I put in place were at the rear end of the sheath, opposite end from the adjuster. I'm wondering now if the part of the adjuster that has the two "teeth" in it to engage the latch housing is threaded so that it can push the cable toward the rear, or if it just spins free (as I had surmised this morning). I suppose I need to buy a larger flashlight.
