Jim - if it's the main fan control switch, with the levers, the first tool you will need is patience. the fascia panel is held to the dash by 4 pins that break incredibly easily. after you pull the fan speed knob, use a butter knife from either end and slowly pry the panel about a 16th of an inch at a time alternating ends. if a pin breaks, it can be epoxied back onto the panel. when replacing the fascia, use a dab of anti-seize on the pins so you can pull the panel easier when you have to go back in for the light bulb. the secondary fan switch (rear heat) pops out far easier with just a flat bladed screw driver.    h t h             good luck !      mike ________________________________ From: James Ogul <jimogul70@GMAIL.COM> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Tuesday, August 13, 2013 10:40 AM Subject: Switch Question Maybe an easy question from a novice.  How do you change out the fan control switch on the dash board (85 Wsty).  Does it pull out from the front or do you have to get at it from the back? Thanks Jim 85 Westy
