Eric, The stock hatch struts have a strong and weaker pairing. Our fine vendors usually sell a pair of strong struts for extra weight on the hatch. The downside of that configuration is the hatch is harder to close. My guess is that yours is just tired and a new stock set of struts would solve the sags.
