The 5th pin labeling of various OEM VW 5 pin relays does not comport to the diagrams in that link. Use of a generic 4 pin "Bosch type" means that the 4 pins are in the same orientation on all of the relays that follow that standard and are labeled with the same numbers on each of the pins. Many oem relays don't follow that standard so the user must have some better idea of what they are doing if they use something other than the standard 4 pin. The standard "Bosch type" 4 pole relays are used in every VW for decades so pretty easy to grab at a yard and I have many of them from various VWs, OEM. VW stamps them as 53 and 24. I use a lot of the later 53 ones for various uses. There are also OEM VW 4 pin relays with other numbers that are the functionally similar except for larger male spades on the 2 high current pins so different wire ends are needed on 2 of the new short wires. Examples of those would be VW stamped 18 and 111 types. Mark
