Recently I put a big wide backup light, mounted on a harbor freight welder's ground magnet, that sticks onto the rear bumper (or wherever else I want it) primarily for backing into campsites at night. I also put two Cibié Airports with fog glass on the front bumper. These are all relayed in and are operated by an on-off-on switch mounted on a bracket just below the dash between the steering shaft cover and the heater vent cover. What I thought people might be interested in is the little switch panel I made. The switch sits into the center of a panel that has on it an outline drawing I did of a vanagon, and it shows diagrammatic "light rays" out the front and rear at bumper level. When switched toward the "front lights" the fog lights are on (if the parking lights are on) and likewise the back light is on when the switch it thrown that way on the dash icon. I could not have one print (white lines, dark brown background, pebble-finish lexan over the print, peel-and-stick backing) made without having a bunch of them made. I only need one, so I will give away the rest of them to folks who would like them. The company screwed up the first order in that they are a little too big for my bracket, so you are lucky to have a choice of two sizes. The two sizes are 2.75" and 3.75" wide respectively. I have four of the smaller and six of the larger. First come first served, I will email a photo of the installation to those interested. Will arrive in a letter envelope. Jim |
