I used to have a '59 Ford F-100 that had an air horn on it. I would so
love to have that installed in my van! I had somebody pull right in
front of me one time. I reached up and pulled down on the wooden chain
pull and blew the horn. The car careened off the road out of my way!
It sounded sort of like a semi, so I guess he figured there was a semi
roaring up his back side. Given that my truck was VERY old and had
drum brakes all around, it was a better thing that he got out of the
way and didn't become my new hood ornament. My van doesn't stop very
quickly either and sometimes it feels like people can see a big sign
on my van that says "Pull out now, otherwise you'll be BEHIND that big
piece of junk!"
My horn does actually work much better now, after I pulled the
steering wheel and cleaned and lubed the contacts. It used to be very
anemic...
