I've found that stranded wire, if un-layed (yacht term for unwound) gives you great little pokers. Bicycle brake or shifter cables, or any kind of stranded wire. I just cut an appropriate length and untwist it, then put a few of the strands in each tool box, just for things like window squirters or paint spray guns. Smaller diameter than needles or pins and usually a little less rigid, so you aren't likely to deform anything....

I second the compressed air, but carefully with the pressure and make an escape route available for the air pressure or you will blow off some hose that may be impossible to re-attach...I discovered this blow off the hoses problem on a fancy car with headlight washers...
