I get what you mean.

This is what tried to do with the cooling unit itself. On my 182A it was held together with screws. Maybe all later models use rivets?

I always wondered if I didn't do more harm than good removing the brown paste and using the CPU type heat transfer compound. This image shows ice on the LH of cooling unit but I never saw it ice up on RH (on that particular fridge)

Then again, the small muffin fan, running 24/7, might have something to to with lack of ice on RH end.

That said, both my Dometics would get quite cold if it wasn't too hot out.
